The story of the model

American Eagle history

The American Eagle is the coach that launched American Coach. Trade reports say it was unveiled in 1991 as a luxury diesel motorhome sold by Fleetwood Enterprises. It is the only American Coach name in Fleetwood's annual report for the fiscal year that ended in April 1994.

For the 2004 model year the Eagle moved to the new Liberty chassis and could carry up to four slideout rooms. MotorHome magazine reported 40- and 42-foot Eagles with Cummins 400 ISL and 500 ISM engines and an anticipated base price of $385,000. For 2007 the magazine reported six new Eagle floorplans and a full-wall slide option. In those years the American Heritage was the top model and the Eagle sat below it.

A brochure archive holds American Eagle brochures for every model year from 1999 to 2026 except 2015. RVGuide's price listings begin with 2014, when the Eagle floorplans it prices run from $638,285 to $643,128. Its last American Heritage listings are for 2015, and in 2020 the trade press again called the Eagle the brand's flagship. RVGuide's Eagle prices pass $1 million with the 2023 model year.

For the 2026 model year American Coach added the 45FW floorplan, developed with the travel couple behind Fuel Your Wander. The builder's 2027 page lists three floorplans, 45J, 45K and 45FW, all with a 605-horsepower Cummins ISX15 engine and an Allison 4000 Series six-speed transmission.
