American Coach American Tradition

The American Tradition was an American Coach diesel pusher priced below the American Eagle. The Fleetwood annual report first lists it for the fiscal year that ended in April 1996. Brochures cover 2000 through 2014 and RVGuide lists it through 2016. The name returned for 2021 to 2023, and the builder no longer lists it.

The story of the model

American Tradition history

The Fleetwood annual report for the fiscal year that ended in April 1996 lists the American Tradition, and a dealer history also gives 1996 as its first year. For the 2004 model year it moved to the new Liberty chassis with room for up to four slideout rooms. MotorHome magazine reported 38- and 40-foot Traditions with the Cummins ISL 370 engine and an anticipated base price of $240,000. For 2007 the magazine reported four new floorplans and a full-wall slide option.

RVGuide lists the Tradition for 2014, 2015 and 2016, with an 11.9-liter, 500-horsepower Cummins in the 2016 42G. It then lists no Tradition until 2021, when the trade press reported a renewed American Tradition with three floorplans. The last RVGuide Tradition listings are for 2023, priced from $693,850 to $759,813.
