The story of the model
X3-45 VIP history
Prevost says it launched the X3-45 in 2006 with the longest wheelbase in the industry. Wikipedia describes it as a revision of the Le Mirage XLII with a longer wheelbase. The VIP is the conversion-shell version. The sources opened for this profile do not say when the first X3-45 VIP shell was built. US recall records, as indexed by Justia, list X3-45 VIP shells from model year 2008 onward.
Like the H3-45 VIP, the shell has a taller body than the passenger bus. Prevost's 2023 sheets give the VIP 91.5 inches from floor to ceiling against 79.5 inches in the passenger X3-45, and an overall height of 143.625 inches against 133.875.
Not every X3-45 VIP becomes a motorhome. Wikipedia says the two heavily modified buses the US Secret Service introduced in August 2011 are X3-45 VIP shells, and that Hemphill Brothers Coach Company of Nashville, Tennessee, fitted out the interiors.
