The full story
Dynamax history
Dynamax was founded in March 1997, according to the trade magazine RV PRO. Founder DeWayne Creighton set out to build an automotive-style motorhome, according to the trade site RV News. The oldest Dynamax brochures in a third-party brochure library are for the 1998 Isata Sport Sedan and Isata Touring Sedan.
Larger coaches followed. The same library lists a Grand Sport brochure for 2002, and the DynaQuest name appears on its brochures for 2006 and 2007. An early, undated DynaQuest XL brochure describes a 330-horsepower Cummins engine on a Freightliner chassis. By 2012 and 2013 the library also lists the DynaQuest ST, the Grand Sport Ultra and Grand Sport GT, the Isata F Series, the Trilogy and the first DX3.
Forest River, the RV builder owned by Berkshire Hathaway, bought Dynamax in 2011, according to RV News, Business View Magazine and RV PRO. Dynamax's own company page says it is part of Forest River, Inc., but it gives no year for the sale. The sources read give only the year of the sale, not the day.
The third-party brochure library lists a Force brochure for 2015. Brian Clemens, who managed the division in 2018, told the trade magazine RV PRO that the plant was barely building one coach a day when he arrived in 2015, and that by early 2018 it was building eight a week, each with a buyer already waiting. Business View Magazine reported that 175 employees built just over 800 units in 2017 at a 200,000-square-foot plant on 27 acres on the north side of Elkhart.
In March 2018 RV PRO described Dynamax as the only Forest River division building Super C coaches. The Force and DX3 were built on the Freightliner M2 106 chassis and the DynaQuest XL on the larger M2 112. Starting prices at that time were $243,000 for the Force, $299,000 for the DX3 and $361,000 for the DynaQuest XL. The Isata 5, on a Ram 5500 chassis, started at about $176,000.
For the 2021 model year Dynamax brought back an old name, Europa, on a shorter Super C built on the Freightliner M2 106 B chassis with a 6.7-liter Cummins engine. RV PRO reported in September 2024 that Dynamax was in full production of off-road Extreme versions of the Isata 5. The library lists an Isata 6 brochure for 2025, and the builder's site shows both the Isata 6, on a four-wheel-drive Ford F600 chassis, and the Europa S, on the Freightliner S2RV chassis, for 2026 and 2027.
On 5 October 2026 the builder's motorhome directory listed nine lines. Seven are built on Ram, Ford or Freightliner truck chassis, and their 2027 pages show base prices above $290,000: the Isata 5, Isata 6, Europa, Europa S, DX3, DynaQuest XL and Grand Sport. The Grand Sport is at the top, with a 2027 base price of $663,418 on a Freightliner Cascadia 126 tandem-axle chassis with a 600-horsepower Detroit DD16 engine. The other two lines, the Isata 3 and the new Oberon, are built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, according to RV PRO and RV News.
