The full story
Renegade RV history
Renegade RV dates its start to 1997 and is based in Bristol, Indiana, near Elkhart. The company says its story began with an unapproved display set up outside a members-only industry show. In its own words, it was a small group focused on building heavy-duty products for the motorsports industry. Its legal name was Kibbi, LLC, doing business as Renegade RV.
By the time it was sold in 2016, it built motorhomes and heavy-duty trailers. REV Group described it as a leader in the Super C part of the motorhome market and a leading maker of recreational vehicles and heavy-duty special-application trailers.
A company profile published by Preqin says an investor named ShoreView owned Kibbi before it was sold. On December 30, 2016, REV Group bought all of the shares of Kibbi, LLC. REV's quarterly report gives the purchase price as about $22.2 million, or about $20.6 million after subtracting the cash that came with the business. Reports at the time said Renegade had about 175 employees and a 200,000-square-foot plant in Bristol, and that production and staff would stay there. Mike Lanciotti was Renegade's president.
Renegade became part of REV Recreation Group, next to the American Coach, Monaco, Holiday Rambler and Fleetwood RV brands. REV Group itself began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in January 2017.
Renegade's online brochure archive starts with model year 2018. That year's set covers seven models: the XL, IKON, Verona LE, Verona and Valencia, plus the Vienna and Villagio. The Veracruz joins the archive for 2019, a Classic brochure appears from 2021 and the Explorer from 2022. The last IKON brochure is for 2023. The archive does not show when each model was first built.
Renegade reports several trade awards for recent models. RV Pro named the 2023 Valencia 36SB its best new model, and RV News named the 2023 Valencia 38BB its Class C motorhome of the year. RV News also named the 2025 Verona 40VTS its Class C RV of the Year.
In September 2024 REV Group announced that Renegade had opened a customer experience and service center of just over 44,000 square feet, with 10 service bays, in nearby Elkhart, Indiana. In February 2026 Inside INdiana Business reported that the company had opened a third production facility in Bristol. A summary of that report puts the building at 81,000 square feet and says it will raise production capacity by 28 percent.
Renegade's corporate parent changed in 2026. REV Group announced a planned merger with Terex Corporation in October 2025, and Terex said the merger was complete on February 2, 2026. REV Group's shares stopped trading, and the combined company trades as Terex. Renegade's website still carries a REV Group copyright notice.
For model year 2027 Renegade lists ten models, from 25 feet 6 inches to 45 feet long. The longest floorplans are in the Classic, at up to 45 feet, and the XL, at up to 44 feet 11 inches. The 2027 list adds the Explorer TS, a longer tandem-axle relative of the Explorer, and includes a Villagio for the first time since the 2022 brochure set.
